Favorite Book*

Everyone should have a favorite book, just like how everyone has a favorite movie! So what is your favorite book?

Mine for years since high school when it was mandatory to read was and continues to be

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Here are some of my favorite quotes and/or descriptions [because I love creative writing]:

"A breeze blew through the room, blew curtains in at one end and out the other like pale flags, twistin them up toward the frosted wedding cake of the ceiling--and then rippled over the wine-colored rug, making a shadow on it as wind does on the sea" [Description pg 12]

pg 20 Daisy says, "I'm glad it's a girl. And I hope she'll be a fool--that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool."

This is such an interesting way as to describe someone! [but I LOVE IT!]

Pg 127 Gatsby says, "Her voice is full of money."

It was full of the money-that was the inexhaustible charm that rose and fell in it, the jingle of it, the cymbals' song of it."

pg 163 Narrator says, "You're worth the whole damn bunch put together."

Pg 180 "Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead, after that my own rule is to let everything alone."

*If you don't have a favorite book, go buy one and read it! I recommend, besides The Great Gatsby, The Feast of Love by Charles Baxter. This was recommended to me by my creative writing teacher & it is amazing. I love it--it can be tied w/ the Great Gatsby!

Everybody wants Change

Well, maybe not everybody wants change, but I thrive off of change. You need to welcome change with arms wide open*

As Rosanne Cash once said, "The key to change. . . is to let go of fear."

Lastly, Keri Russell, "Sometimes it's the smallest decisions that can change your life forever."

Go confidently tonight. Go be you. Go change something. Voice your opinion. Be different. Be respected. Be you. Be you. Be you.

Don't follow others, do your own thing. You are an individual who can change the world.

Mission Statement

Today = Mission Statement Thursday

It seems as though people get stressed & too focused on the weekend once Thursday comes along, so lets refocus our energy & think about what you, as an individual, stands for.

I will start off by telling you my personal mission statement.

WestStar Says,

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt.

I want to succeed in life through helping others, making the most of each day, and never allowing anything to come between myself and my goals or dreams. I desire to strive to be the best person that I can be no matter what positive or negative change may come my way. I will never compromise who I am for anyone or anything that I may pass on my life's path. I want to let everything that occurs mean something and never regret something in the past because nothing can be changed, only improved. I want to always optimistically look forward into the future: my future.

Now I challenge you to tell me yours! :] I would love to hear it

We're all a little crazy in one way or another :]

Whether in spanish or english, this saying holds true. Every single one of us is crazy. Crazy with happiness, sadness, selfishness, or givingness. We are just crazy.
